I work in healthcare and had never been in a situation like this before. I was told the investigation involved healthcare and mail fraud. Hearing those words was frightening. I honestly did not know what was going to happen to me. Loren got involved before any charges were filed. He spoke with the government on my behalf and dealt with the Inspector General and the FBI. He also helped arrange for me to repay the money involved. My understanding is that Loren worked to show them what actually happened, including that I had made a bad decision, but that this did not make me a criminal. I am not a lawyer, so I cannot say exactly what happened behind the scenes. I only know that Loren kept fighting for me and, in the end, no charges were filed. The waiting was probably the worst part. There were long periods when nothing seemed to happen, and it was very difficult not knowing what the government would decide. I worried a lot. Loren understood that and was always calm with me. When I called him worried, he would explain where things stood and tell me not to assume the worst. I never had the feeling that I was just another case to him. I felt that he was watching out for me. It has now been about a year and I have not been charged with anything. From what I understand, it looks like this is finally behind me. I am very relieved and very grateful. Loren helped me through a situation that I hope I never experience again. I will always remember that when I was scared and did not know what to do, I had someone in my corner who knew how to handle it. I simply cannot recommend him enough. If you think this praise is unwarranted, read on. Despite never so much as having seen a police officer, I was charged with domestic violence. I was notified of this over the phone, at which point I agreed to turn myself in. Later, I came to find out from Loren that I should have turned myself in with him. Anybody in a similar situation, take note. Anyhow, upon retaining Loren from jail, he immediately sprang into action. At my arraignment, the prosecutor made all kinds of egregious, impossible claims. She requested my bond be set at some ludicrous amount--I forget the exact figure, but I believe it was $15,000, no 10%. As if through some incantation, Loren was able to handily overcome this attempt, getting my bond set at $10,000 with 10%. I immediately posted the $1,000 (which was ultimately returned to me), and was out of jail. To my surprise, the frivolous charges were pursued upon my release. I made it clear to Loren that under no condition would I accept a plea bargain of any sort. I wanted to fight, and I wanted to win. He was on board from that moment, and made no attempt to sway my opinion. It was clear that he, too, wanted to win. As the wheels of justice slowly began to turn, I was asked to travel for work. This was a significant problem as one of the conditions of my bond was that I could not leave the state. Having put it off as long as I could, I finally raised the issue with Loren. He told me that, while he could not promise anything, he believed it to be possible. I decided to put my faith in him, and told my client I was working on it. What I expected to take weeks took mere days: in no time at all, I had a signed order permitting travel. That was the first win, and thanks to Loren's swift actions, I was able to advance my career in the midst of such a dreadful ordeal! As the case proceeded, the prosecution began to act in a manner I can only describe as "erratic." At some point, they lost contact with the purported victim. They subpoenaed a man I had never seen or met before. They even attempted to subpoena my elderly mother! Again, Loren acted decisively: not long after, my mother received a phone call from a prosecutor informing her that if she had received the summons, it was not necessary for her to appear. I am quite thankful for that--she was burdened enough by the events. Despite having lost contact with the so-called "victim," the prosecution continued after me! It seemed their plan was to have the police testify on behalf of the "victim!" Outrageous! But once again, Loren intervened. He filed a motion invoking the Crawford rule. When I discussed it with him, he said that while he could not guarantee success, he had never had the motion fail. Lo and behold, it did not! And with that, the police were no longer able to testify on behalf of the "victim." Another win! Are you seeing the pattern here? The prosecution persisted, setting a date for trial! I was informed by the judge that, should I proceed, I would have no further opportunities to enter a plea bargain. In other words, I had a choice: give up, or once again put my faith in Loren, and continue fighting. When I discussed the matter with Loren, he informed me that, should the "victim" not appear at the trial, that would be it: case dismissed. I opted to continue the fight. The day of the trial, I was terrified. But the "victim" never arrived, and as quickly as the ordeal had begun, it was over: case dismissed, and I walked out of the courthouse with the matter resolved--a free man, no probation, nothing about the matter on my record, and, above all else, a mother undisturbed. Later that day, Loren also informed he was waiving the remaining balance. Such generosity is greatly appreciated. I've hit the max length for a review, but that's it. Since this was the first time I had ever been in trouble with the law, I was extremely nervous and unsure of what to expect. After getting Loren ans our lawyer, he made us feel comfortable and helped get my husband evaluated and treatment. He needed help for a terrible pornography addiction. This was an awful case and a terrible twist in our lives! No matter how bad things got or seemed to get, Loren saw us through the whole way and always made us feel comfortable and confident we would get the best outcome. At sentencing, he did a masterful job of convincing the judge to order a sentence that was only a third of what the US attorney was asking for. She doesn’t interrupt me and patiently listens to my concerns first. She gives a calm, confident, and ruthless impression, which is why I retained her after talking to so many attorneys. She emails me quickly about every step and detail of my case, such as motions/deviations she’s filing or evidence she receives. Some attorneys are not this detail-oriented. Additionally, she confirms your professional status, like your medical license and your immigration status, to ensure that the result won’t negatively affect you. She is patient with her clients but very effective and ruthless in court. She isn't afraid to go to trial if needed. While she and her firm can be very expensive, you want to retain a very competent attorney, especially when you are concerned about your career or immigration status. You don’t want to retain a random or “affordable” attorney because it will be a nightmare. For me, I am a very picky person and want my attorney to be effective and aggressive in court. Parisa and her firm will do everything possible to obtain a dismissal or a not-guilty verdict. She is not a random attorney who would convince you to accept a lame plea deal.
