Uttering and Publishing Definition

MCL 750.249. This is a felony offense punishable by up to 14 years in prison. Uttering and Publishing occurs when a person falsely makes or alters a document with the intent to fraud another person or business. Michigan’s Penal Code provides for different offenses that constitute as uttering and publishing depending on the type of document that was used in the commission of the crime.
