ETG Test Definition

An ethyl glucuronide (ETG) test can detect a metabolite in a person’s urine that is a biomarker consistent with the ingestion of alcohol. An ETG test can detect the metabolite for approximately 80 hours post-consumption. Judges frequently require defendants on bond or probation to submit to periodic ETG urine testing to prove they are not consuming alcohol.
