Proffer Definition

A proffer is a meeting between a criminal defendant, law enforcement officers, and either a state or federal prosecutor. At the proffer meeting, the defendant is required to truthfully and fully explain their role in a criminal offense, and in most cases, inform on any other participants and co-defendants.
